Drug Rehabilitation Facility

DHAKA, BANGLADESH

nothing they can see, touch, smell or taste will give them anything to blame or resent about the system that brought them there.

My thesis objective had started with me trying to find ways to resolve the current drug rehabilitation system in the city of Dhaka, Bangladesh through various elements of architecture. Upon arrival to this rehabilitation center, the only penalty is the restriction of liberty, no other rights will be removed. Life inside will resemble life outside as much as possible with enhanced opportunities for modern treatment and healing options. All of these are to be designed so that the patients can establish a normative day-to-day routine in a less institutional-feeling environment. The system will also be designed to create incentives - patients get access to additional amenities and increasingly comfortable accommodations depending on their behavior over the period of their stay. I want that nothing they can see or touch or smell or taste and no interaction with staff will give them anything to blame or resent about the system that brought them there, and instead work as a medium for them to heal and learn from.
